Understanding DHCP on Home Networks Jan 16, 2020 DHCP server no longer handing out default gateway Hi folks, I just updated to the 5/5 snapshot (previous version was a March 2013 snapshot), and things were not happy. After a bit of head-scratching, it seems that the DHCP server is no longer handing out the default route unless you explicitly enter the default gateway in the configuration.
I manage to disable the default gateway assignment by DHCP server by setting the network address as default gateway. For example I have a network 192.168.1.0/24, I set 192.168.1.0 as the default gateway. pfsense accepts it but as the route is invalid it will not be used by the client. It is a bite dirty but I hope it helps. ;) gdo35
